Thanks to everone - only recently discovered the CHDK site ..have been wanting a remote shutter release since I bought the G9 - made one up according to the instructions and it works!!!!   The response is a  bit slow but I haven't played around too much. Just wanted to say thanks for the site and to the developers etc.
