The 5D Mark II has the same "Factory Menu":



I haven't explored all of the entries, but the DISPLAY CK does show the same color bars.  There is another secret menu for "Photo studio mode":

that's cool, wonder how you managed to take a real screenshot of it. the only useful part of it I've found is the dust delete data test which shows where dust is on the CMOS. Depending on how big the partile is will depend on the colour that the little ring will be. Before cleaning my sensor I had some green and red rings but now only those two stubborn blue ones.

I'm interested in what that 'administration menu of yours does!

I'm calling the "dispcheck" function through the call-by-name interface.  It writes the bitmap overlay plane to a file name "A:/TEST.BMP".

Me, too.  I haven't been brave enough to try enabling restricted mode or setting passwords.  The structure that it updates seems to be referenced in many places elsewhere in the firmware.
