Is it possible to have twain support for Canon Powershot?
I'd like to be able to take pictures with my camera which is connected to my PC and get them into my program automatically.
TWAIN (=software interface) support is build-in in most Canon cameras, if you want to upload images via USB on Windows 2000 the TWAIN software interface is the only way. On the camera's download page Canon offers TWAIN drivers for Windows 2000 for some cameras.
Since Windows XP this is obsolete, now other transfer methods like PTP or WIA are used.
But: this is only for uploading images/data 'offline', normally the camera must be in playback mode for this, it is comparable to transfering pictures via USB with Windows XP.
It is NOT possible to control the camera via TWAIN, no remote capturing etc.!
Maybe the WIA Interface on Windows XP or higher could help you, you should have a look to the SDM (
Stereo DataMaker),
SDM: Image uploading and
WIA loader.
Another option is the Eye-Fi wireless lan SD card, search here in the forum for 'Eye-fi' for more informations...
