Trojan virus warning with CardTricks141

Just a caution- I downloaded CardTricks last week - today my latest Macafee signature tells me that it has Trojan virus.  I don't now recall which specific site I downloaded it from but it was via the CHDK link.  Take care.

McAfee sucks, as you can see. Dont trust that pile of codecrap, it gives warnings for perfectly legit programs every once in a while.

THIS PROBLEM IS BECOMING A PAIN IN THE REAR END WITH ALL VIRUS SCANNERS.

I just downloaded Cardtricks twice from:
Download file: CardTricks143.exe
Scanned with AVGfree anti-virus with the latest AV definitions.
Scanned clear; no virus on install.
You have a false positive in your virus definition.
Contact Macafee; tell them to fix their AV definitions.

I suspect the false positives are caused by cardtricks manipulating the boot sector and such.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Thanks all - it seemed legit since I have no history of any detections let alone false ones.  Live and learn.

I have the same problem with AVG insisting that cardtricks 1.43 has a trojan.  It won't let me do anything with the file.  What can I do to resolve this and install the app?

Get another Virus scanner. Also, maybe its worth a try to report those false-positives to the producer, maybe they can fix it with an update..

Also: Cant you usually disable those virus scanners temporarily, or set some exception rules?

Regards

If there's a way to disable it, I can't find it.  I'm not really up for changing my anti virus solution just so I can run one app, I was hoping there was a better way.

You can try other/older Cardtricks versions (find the links in the wikia), for the 'main' things like formatting the card, make it bootable, copy CHDK to it... the older versions, e.g. 1.39, are completely adequate.

Thank you, that works fine (v 1.39).
