Start porting it, or wait until someone else does.

Hello & welcome somicpan !

As Hacki said: if you're not a 'developer' you can only wait, maybe someone will port CHDK to your firmware.

There's a small chance left:
Try both of the existing CHDK ports (for fw. 1.00E and 1.01B), maybe one of them work with 1.00C.

Backup the data from your card, prepare it with Cardtricks (format, make bootable) & expand the first complete package for the A590 from the CHDK Autobuild server to the card's root directory. When the camera crashes after power-on, just remove the card & the batteries, then reinsert the batteries.
Try it with the second version the same way (format, make bootable, install fw. No. 2...)...

Good luck & don't forget to report your results here !

I tried both firmware. My camera can't even power up at all with both the firmware. When i remove the files in the card, my camera works like normal again.

Ok, so you should make a firmware dump of your 1.00C firmware, this will be needed to port CHDK to your fw version.

Use Cardtricks with an empty SD card (max. 2GB size !), select your card, press the NewDryOS button, read all the messages carefully & follow them.

Lock the card (important !), insert it & start up the camera - you'll see NO activity, just wait 30 seconds, then remove the batteries & the card.

Insert the card in your card reader, start Cardtricks again, select your card & press Strings.
Now you should see some strings from the firmware; close the window, click Clean in Cardtricks, then store the cleaned dump on your hard disk.

Zip this file and upload it somewhere, e.g. at a free file hoster like zSHARE - Free Image, Video, Audio, Flash and File Hosting - then post the link to the firmware dump on this thread here in the forum: [DOWNLOAD LINKS] Firmware dumps available.

It's here-A590IS 1.00c.rar - 1.53MB. Hopefully the CHDK team can do something. Thanks in advance.

Hi I've just bought a Canon A590 IS and my firmware is also 1.00C - also hoping that this build gets developed as I haven't a clue - am willing to trade my graphic design skills if anyone wants to take this up :)

Hi. How to change firmware version from 1.00c to any other? Or is there any plans to port CHDK to 1.00c A590 ?

This could only be done with an official Canon firmware update, but Canon did not release one for the A590 yet.

But if there are 3 different firmware versions on market, there should be any method to switch it. Or maybe different firmware means different hardware too, so switching is not possible?
