Hi,

I have an IXUS 800IS and currently have a SanDisk Plus 2GB (the type that folds in half to plug into a USB port) which is very convenient, however, I think I could benefit from a faster SD card. Does anyone have any recommendations for the fastest SD cards?

I don't believe that a SDHC card can work in my camera and I haven't seen any good 4GB SD cards around. I'd appreciate any pointers as to what SD cards to look at. I'm in Australia if that makes any difference.

Thank you again fe50! That's exactly the sort of thing I was after.

God, I wish my camera supported SDHC. Higher capacity and speed are exactly the sort of thing that adds further value to many of CHDK's features (RAW, bracketing, intervalometer, etc).

btw a lot of canon cams do support sdhc, even though the manual doesnt directly say so. i'd suggest trying it out :)

I'm pretty sure this is the last (or one of the last) not to support SDHC. I did try to stick an 8GB SDHC card into it once and it gave some sort of error (card or read error I think).

It can't have anything to do with the formatting on the card can it?

Try formatting a SDHC card in the cam - if it refuses to do that, it proves the cam is incompatible.
It can refuse to read cards that are not formatted in-cam for all kinds of reasons.
