interesting. did you take normal pictures or ones with overridden shutter speed?
and what means "black"? are they just dark, so can you turn up gamma/brightness?

I normal pictures at family party with raw turned on to DNG.  The programs that brought in black pictures were black no data checked tried gamma/brightness. PSP-X2 (Black) not a good program for raw converting. RawShooter essentials 2006(Black) after reconvert the org DNG files using Adobe DNG converter every thing good to work with.

Maybe we have two different versions of RawShooter essentials 2006 (my ver. is 1.2.0), because it ignores any DNG file ("cannot open") - directly from CHDK, after DNG4PS2, after Adobe DNG converter, or downloaded from internet (from Ricoh Caplio GX100).

My versions of RawShooter essentials 2006 (ver. 1.2.1 build 72). I did make the changes from Solution: How to use RawShooter Premium 2006 on CHDK files to see DNG raw files. Is yours RawShooter essentials 2006 change/edited?

Of course, no. After editing rawshooter.exe CHDK DNG looks as black.
So, I change in DNG file header BitsPerSample parameter from 10 bit to 16 bit (using hex editor ;)). After this RAW shooter can show thumbnail and even main image (of course, main image is corrupted because data is 10 bit in reality).

Hence RawShooter essentials 2006 can not open DNG with 10-bit image. If you want to use it, you must convert images to 16 bit using Adobe DNG converted or something like this.

edit: Screenshot is attached.

Thanks for your work on this makes sense I have to convert them when needed DNG files.  RawShooter essentials 2006 are Raw Therapee 2.4b4 are what editors I using now to to work with raw files. I only shot raw about 25% of the not a big problem just need to convert when needed.
