Hi folks, I have just had a go at dumping the firmware on my new SX1 IS.

Hopefully I have done it right (Used CardTricks v1.43, NewDryOS > Strings > Clean ) and the file can be of some use to someone on here for future CHDK use.

Could someone please confirm the file is any good, it should be Ver GM1.00E (E18)?

yes, thats a good thing, as in: canon did not do anything to prevent dumping of firmware in newer models.
obtaining the dump is the easiest part in porting a cam though, mind that :)

I did wonder if that would be the case PhyrePhoX. Is there anything else I need to do with the camera that could assist the porting (I fully understand it's not when but if it happens now)?

unfortunately, there is not much you can do, unless you are a programmer with a skillset that contains C and arm assembler.
a porter needs physical access to a camera he is to port. maybe you have "IT friends" that can help you out?
