Saving RAW and JPG same shot / On screen review of RAW

Saving RAW and JPG same shot / On screen review of RAW

Searched around and can't find this.

1) In my 40D i can get a low quality JPG + RAW for every shot.  Does CHDK do this?

2) The reason i'm asking is mostly because i'm "assuming" that the back of the camera review can't read and display RAW files.  Is that true?

Try setting your JPEG settings to "small" (640x480) and "normal" compression.. that way, a jpeg is around 40-100kb in size, and pretty much should do what you are asking for.

So then just to clearify the camera can't review RAW files saved on the card.  I expect it just ignores those files.  However, with CHDK installed i can get a RAW file AND a JPG every time i click the shutter.  Am i on the right track?

I have an SD770 and CHDK isn't available yet... otherwise i'd just install it and see for myself.

Yes, that's true ... and IMHO not seeing the RAW is no great loss, on the small LCD you wouldn't see the difference
between RAW and (even small) JPG anyway ...
