My camera will not power on anymore - HALP!!!!11!!1!

So, any advice on trouble shooting a sd550 that won't power on would be greatly appreciated. I don't have money to replace it, so i have to fix it.

My only thinking is that my 4.5v battery pack and 4.5v usb remote eventually fried it.

I don't have an SD550, so I can only offer generic advice,

Try to "reset" you camera. Look if the manual says anything about that, otherwise:

1) leave it without battery for long (a few days)

2) remove the battery AND the second, small lithium battery (it's the battery that powers the camera's clock while you charge the main battery)
In other cameras you see a small "door" that opens reveailng the smaller battery.

I really don't think the USB rempte is guilty...

actually, by reading the manual (page 4) it seems you can't remove the lithium battery on the SD550.

and it says you need to leave it three weeks (!!!) without them main battery to discharge the smalle lithium battery!!!

Are you sure that you have the right firmware on your cam? remove your sd-card and try to enable it. If you have the wrong CHDK firmware it doesn't power on. Does your cam do anything when switching on?

Oh, I didn't think of that.

try powering on the camera without SD card... it should power on and complain "no SD card"

ok.. i have tried taking the sd card out... no luck... it has been two weeks with out the battery so we will see what happens... thanks for the help
