I've been playing with a 720is, chdk and intervalometer to do timelapse videos.
I think this camera has some stupid software limits that prevent an advanced use of it...
Example: a classic timelapse of the day fading into night
Exposure starts at ~1/500 and should go to 5-10sec at night
this is not possible since this camera stop at 1sec (but damn, it's a software limit!)
I could override this value with manual mode or CHDK, but I cannot use a fixed value for sunrise... so these options are useless.
MF is necessary for most of timelapses, since AF engine and mechanics dacay with too much use
but MF are available just with LCD on... (damn, again it's a software limit!)
I've read that someone recommend to plug a jack in the video-out socket, to switch off the lcd
this is a useless solution, since power consuption is almost the same
lcd on 2.10 W
jack in 1.85 W
lcd black 0.90 W
lcd off 0.60 W
it's a pity this camera has these 2 software "bugs"....
does nobody know a solution?
