Note that different record mods (manual focus, movie etc) also can have quite different memory values. Finally, I've noticed +/- a few KB between boots, without changing anything. So these numbers should be regarded as approximate.

Yep that's right, I've noticed that too. Now that we're getting some data written down, it would be interesting to experiment with various things... like how much more (if any)  RAM the cam needs in REC and/or PLAY mode if a 4 GB card is full of small JPEGs compared to an empty card, etc etc.

Yep that's right, I've noticed that too. Now that we're getting some data written down, it would be interesting to experiment with various things... like how much more (if any)  RAM the cam needs in REC and/or PLAY mode if a 4 GB card is full of small JPEGs compared to an empty card, etc etc.

It also looks like autoboot startup 'eats' ~ 5 kb more memory then starting with the firmware update method on VxWorks cameras (1013040 vs. 1018444 bytes, Ixus 50).

fe50: be careful, I've seen more than 5kb variation between boots without changing anything at all!
Don't forget what the H stands for.
