Hey, I couldn't find the IXUS 870 in the list over supported cameras. Can I use CHDK anyway or shuld I wait until someone has done a port for Ixus 870? Or is it coming? Anyone who knows?
I'm new to this and a little noob, hope someone will help me  :)

No, you'll have to wait until the cam is ported ...
This is about to / has just started, see here: IXUS 870 (SD880) port

Any clues how long will it take? A cople of week, moths?

And, did I understand right when I read the Overview of CHDK at the front page, do you get able to set manual exposer and shutter time whit CHDK, and doest this work as good as on a camera that has this from the beginning, if you get what I'm trying to ask :)

With CHDK you can manually adjust all settings you outline, plus more, at levels that exceede the factory levels.

Hey anyone know what would happen if I bought an SD880 and used a CHDK intended for a different camera?
(would some features stil work, or nothing at all?)

Will absolutely NOT work - each cam model and each firmware have different hardware addresses, which
need to be found one by one by the dedicated individuals that port cams.

Re your PM - this just meant I succeeded in dumping the firmware, that creates the base material you need
to start porting - unfortunately you also need skills,  such as a reasonable fluency in ARM assembly and C.
