sd600 video compression

I have a sd600 with chdk

ixus60_sd600-100a-0.9.1-678-full

running.

I'm trying to figure out how to apply video compression. My video time with chdk on and off is the same and I'm using a 4Gb card. I figured with chdk off it would limit to 1G, but it's the same.

I'm basically trying to get more video time on the same card.

I've been researching with no luck.

In the sd600 menu there is no option for "video parameters".

When I have chdk on, select video mode, hit the alt button and select up i change the variables in the top left

sd:1408
factor:1 (goes from 1-1000)

I change these  options but no difference in video size. I'm not even sure what they mean.

Any ideas or help?

Thanks,

gmver

Hello & welcome in the CHDK forum, gmver !

Unfortunately the CHDK version for the Ixus60 / SD600 do NOT support the video overrides yet, therefore this menu item is missing.

This is the 'Override Subject Distance' feature from the Extra Photo Operations menu, see also more informations about it here: Override subject dist.value.
The shortcut keys for the SD override are described here: Quick-Set Hyperfocal & Infinite Manual Focus Distances.

Thanks for the response.

Do you know where would be the best place to check occasionally to see if they integrate video overrides for the sd600?

Thanks again,

g

You can check this from time to time on the SD600's wikia page (SD600)

I added it also to the CHDK Bugtracker: #204 - Video overrides for SD600 (feature request), you can monitor this issue / feature request there...

But since the SD600 is an very old model & the porting was done long time ago, it is not very likely that it will be added soon...it needs good assembler knowledge, not easy to implement...

Well, test versions with video support for IXUS60 are attached to this post (with optical zoom, but without AF).

A user of the german forum reported that it does not work.

The cam (firmware 1.00a) crashes by using the video recording function under different settings.

But a big thanks for your great job, ewavr!

If camera crashes even with default settings (mode=bitrate, bitrate=1x) this feature will be disabled, because I can't find error (at least without this camera).

Yes, the user wrote, the cam crash also by setting the bitrate=1x.

Pity that no one else this feature tests.

Sorry guys, in rev.693 video parameters are removed to avoid camera crash in video mode (I can't find bug there).
