If the IXY model is exactly the same as a supported SD/IXUS are, then it will work. Otherwise it will not. My impression is that IXY is just another re-branding like SD/IXUS.

Yes, until now there's no (real / CHDK related) difference between the SDxxx (North America) / IXUS (Europe) / IXY (Japan), it's only a marketing thing.
