Hello, thinking about buying S3 or S5 Canon. Would like to use chdk. I heard that it has been difficult to port it for the S5. Just wondering what the current and near-future status of chdk for Canon S5 is.

Hi, sorry to admit it, but when I read that entire thread, I still don't know if chdk works for the S5. Too technical for me, except I can see progress is being made. It is amazing to me that the company releases a camera, and these genius guys work very hard, and the presto chango, the camera is BETTER than the company made. It's almost bizarre. It's magic.

Anyway, does anybody have a projection when/if it will be done? I have an S3 I want to trade for an S5, but not if I can't have chdk.

Thanks a lot for all the great work done on chdk!!!

Stick with the S3 for now, nothing much was changed between S3 and S5
