Intervalometer on a canon 450D

Hi everybody!
I'looking for an intervalometer "system" to put on my Canon 450D...
I've just found this forum and it looks cool (but I'm a bit lost among all the information available..)

I was thinking of building a PCB which would be plugged via the remote jack plug of the 450D.
What I would like to do would be something like that :

I have everything needed to design/build the PCB.. but I'm a bit lost and don't really know where to start...!

Hi Cyril,

Why build anything yourself if you can buy them very cheap on eBay

It is my experience that building something like this is usually more expensive unless you have all the parts on stock and the equipment to etch your own PCB's.

Thanks for your reply.
Actually there are many reasons why I don't want to buy one. I like trying to do things like that instead of buying one, it's much more fun, then I have all the components/equipment to make the PCB. So I want to give it a try. If it doesn't work, I'll buy one ($40 is a lot compared to $0 ;-)

If I did understand well, this forum is mainly (only?) talking about firmware upgrade, not what I'm trying to find, right..?

The forum is mainly intended for CHDK which so far only runs on Canon point and shoot cameras

But the moderators do a good job and as you can see, this conversation has been moved to the Other Development > Hotwire! Hardware Mods, Accessories and Insights topic which is the right place for projects like yours.
