So, the (pre-)final version:

  • Using CHDK
    • CHDK Releases (announces; where to download; features descriptions; CHDK-related problems)
    • Help and Assistance on using CHDK versions (general questions: how to install, use; which settings are better; general problems; camera-related problems; etc.) Child-Boards of: GrAnd's Builds, Fingalo's Builds, Microfunguy's Builds, EWAVR's Builds, MX3's (motion detection) Builds, AllBest's Builds
    • Script Writing (questions about current supported syntax; user-written scripts; script writing assistance; camera-related nuances)
    • RAW shooting and processing (working_with_RAW-related problems: how to copy; how to process; best post-processing settings and so on)
    • Creative Uses of CHDK (report a new way to use an existing feature, new discoveries, etc.)
  • CHDK Development
    • General Discussion and Assistance (any development-related questions and hints; how to setup the environment and compilation issues; dumping the firmware; porting questions; bug reports) (some of this questions can be separated as a child board, but not to a dedicated sub-forum)
    • Feature Requests (no comment:)) PLEASE USE THE SEARCH FEATURE FIRST!
  • Lounge (let it be untouched)
    • General Chat
    • Forum related issues

I've just thought... Do we need dedicated forum for "Bug Reports" (such as "Feature Request")? Or, we should use the build-dedicated child board for that?

Good point. I'm now thinking that those "By Build" child-boards in the help and use area, that any bug reports would crop up there. Unless .... I don't know how developers would need bug reports, as that's just standard process for the authors, and not bugs, right?

But I do think the Usage/Help ... "By Build" child boards, would meet most any needs. If someone is having a problem the bug will show up during discussion of that issue. Any author could quickly go to their Help Child-board and scan over the posts to see if any new bugs might have cropped up. That's my thinking, but then ... I'm not an author, I'm just the generic pain in the arse.  :haha

GrAnd suggested one futher child-board, for completed and working scripts, so they are easier to find.

  • Using CHDK
    • CHDK Releases (announces; where to download; features descriptions; CHDK-related problems)
    • Help and Assistance on using CHDK versions (general questions: how to install, use; which settings are better; general problems; camera-related problems; etc.) Child-Boards of: GrAnd's Builds, Fingalo's Builds, Microfunguy's Builds, EWAVR's Builds, MX3's (motion detection) Builds, AllBest's Builds
    • Script Writing (questions about current supported syntax; user-written scripts; script writing assistance; camera-related nuances) Child-board: Completed and Working Scripts
    • RAW shooting and processing (working_with_RAW-related problems: how to copy; how to process; best post-processing settings and so on)
    • Creative Uses of CHDK (report a new way to use an existing feature, new discoveries, etc.)
  • CHDK Development

Hello,

I have implemented the structure you have discussed (topics were brute force moved).

 ;)
Cheers

Looking good acseven!

but .... you missed the "Child-Boards of: GrAnd's Builds, Fingalo's Builds, Microfunguy's Builds, EWAVR's Builds, MX3's (motion detection) Builds (<-- optional?), AllBest's Builds" in the Help and Assistance section. I think that might still be very helpful. With so many builds from so many authors, when someone asks a question about "what's wrong with..." the very first question that has to be asked is "What build are you using?" before anyone can even begin to answer or help. Plus if someone is looking for an answer to a problem with their particular favorite author's work, they'll know right where to look for help.

Unless you or others feel those aren't really needed?

Great!

But descriptions for some boards have to be corrected, because they are copied as is. :)

And we need the moderator in GeneralChat to move some topics to appropriate boards.

True, the way they are now still makes it confusing on where to post things.

Yea, where is that low-life at! Trying to get out of work, no doubt. He should be fired!   :haha

Thanks, acseven!

And the title of the second forum is still incorrect.

Working on it now. Going to leave the "Moved To" posts on most of them, until folks are more familiar with the new layout. Then delete them after a few days to a week so the place don't look so messy.
