A650 & allbest #50

I thought the 'autostart' function wasn't working- but then I checked the box and see that it really means auto *start*.     It seems like there must be a way to just load CDHK without one of the scripts but I can't seem to find it.

FastMD was thefirst script I loaded- then I put untra-intervalometer in.  Whichever I used last loads at startup & I don't see any way of turning them off.

Is there a dummy script I can choose so I can shoot normally?

Thanks to everyone who is working on this project.  I'm having a ball with it.

Pressing shoot in "alt" mode always invokes a script. That's what it does, it never shoots. If you want to shoot, switch out of alt mode. Alt mode is usually the direct print button.

Albest 50 is very old, and AFAIK in that version you can't actually get back to the default script without resetting your cfg. Of course, you could load a script that does nothing.

But if I switch out of alt mode then I'm not using CDHK & I wanted to use the "bracketing in continuous" mode.     Or maybe I can find a script dedicated to bracketing?

I made a text file in notepad.
'rem nothing'
called it nothing.bas

It loads and i still can't access the basic CDHK features.    And when I try to shoot with it loaded I get a 'ubasic err'.

My head is spinning from all the reading I've been doing here the last 2 weeks- but I thought I got the newest CDHK.   I just went back to http://grandag.nm.ru/hdk/autobuild/download.htm where I got the zip for the a650 a couple weeks ago.     There is a new file there now- but it doesn't have the CDHK file in it. [nothing but diskboot.bin]

Is there a better place to get the newest CDHK that will work with the a650?

Thanks,
Jim

CHDK is still running when you leave alt mode, and your bracketing and override settings will still be in effect.

The latest build of CHDK can be found at http://mighty-hoernsche.de/

Thanks so much.    Somehow I had re-checked the 'erase settings on start' option.

And on the newest build--- Wow!!    You've come a long ways in a few months.

I think this is how I ended up with the allbest #50-
From CDHK WIKI [ http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK ] I went to the link for the a650 [ http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/A650IS ] - the only link I found to download new software was at the bottom of that page- "CHDK available (outdated) " [I figured outdated was relative- and saw no options.]    The link there sent me to http://malbe.nm.ru/chdk/ which has the old allbest build.

It says "CHDK is available for the A650IS with firmware version 1.00D from the Download page" (with link) on top of the page.

Those outdated chapters in the bottom are labeled outdated because that's what they are. I guess someone who updated the page didn't take the big step and remove them entirely in case someone sometime using an obsolete version would find it useful.

Proving again that we just can't under-estimate the ability of a newbie to screw things up or miss the obvious.

It might be a little more newbie-proof if the link was repeated down by the outdated ones.   I imagine I saw the link- but wanted to read the whole page & by the time I got down there I forgot the link. [I'm not a slow reader, I'm a fast forgetter.]

Thanks yet again- to the 3 who answered here, and the myriad who have worked on this project.
