AllBest? MoreBest?

The setup instructions I followed (the FAQ + the illustrated CardTricks guide for Windows) suggested I was using the "AllBest" branch. However, there were a number of menu items (e.g. "Enable fast ev switch") that I could not find documented in the AllBest user guide. Then, when browsing the wiki, I stumbled on the MoreBest user guide:

http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK/MoreBest

And this seems to describe all of the menu items I couldn't find in the AllBest guide, suggesting that I am using the MoreBest build.

What branch am I using? Are "AllBest" and "MoreBest" the same?

Edit: It says in the MoreBest guide that it was merged into AllBest, so that answers that part of the question. The new question is: The usage guide is a bit fragmented. The main usage guide doesn't contain the AllBest features, and the AllBest user guide doesn't contain the MoreBest features. At least the main usage guide links to the AllBest guide, but the AllBest guide does not provide any indication that the MoreBest guide exists. Why is the main usage guide separate at all? If you follow the installation instructions, you end up with the AllBest build that includes all the MoreBest features. I'm not going to edit the wiki right now because I don't know why it's like this, but does it make sense to merge all the user guides into a single, real user guide? If so, then I'll be happy to do it.

---

Another confusing thing was, in the FAQ, it mentioned that if I didn't know what branch to use, I should start with "AllBest". However, at no point in the installation process did I ever have to decide what branch to use, I just grabbed the autobuild that the install guide linked to and it appears to be "MoreBest" (or maybe AllBest). I'm not complaining, setup was incredibly simple and I'm really happy about that, but reading the FAQ made me think it was going to be a nightmare, and some of the things in the FAQ don't seem to correspond to the actual installation steps. Not sure if I missed something or what.

Yes. It's fragmented like that, because in "the early days" of chdk, people branched when they introduced a new features. There were builds like "mx3's build", "fingalos build" etc. AllBest was created to merge "All the best" features of those private branches. The term "MoreBest" is a creation of some user, its original name was juciphox. Jucipher and phyrephox started that branch, introducing more experimental features which werent yet ready to be introduced into trunk (aka allbest).

When Juciphox aka morebest matured, it was merged with the svn trunk, and since then theres just allbest/morebest - or plain chdk. Thats what you downloaded from the autobuild.

So all the different build names are kindof obsolete, theres only "CHDK" right now. (And SDM, but thats a completely different branch, dedicated to stereo photography.)

That is not correct.
SDM has features to aid stereo photography but also has all the features required by general photographers.
There are special features for KAP and digiscoping and SDM 1.76 will have advanced features for time-lapse, bracketing, time-lapse with bracketing, auto-acquisition of Tv-bracketed focus stacks, etc.

Thats not correct either. You're arrogant enough to assume that you know what a general photographer "needs" and "wants", and therefore just ignoring to mention that you threw out quite a bit of the mainline chdks features.

I'm not arguing that SDM has a lot of features, but it does not have *all* of chdks features..

i am really growing tired of microfunguy and his "version xyz of sdm will have this or DOES have this and that feature" talk (besides, just release this 1.76!). so SDM does not mean STEREO DATA MAKER anymore? so SDM is a "better" chdk now? are you trying to say that? are we in competition now? you act like someone trying to sell Pepsi in a Coca-Cola Fan-forum. I don't understand your motivation. You cherry-pick the best features in chdk, integrate these in your PERSONAL builds (while occasionally ironing out bugs [that are present in chdk], but not reporting these back), and not giving back. we offer you and everybody to participate in the development of chdk, we have a subversion (which makes it VERY easy for you cherry picking the best features, through the use of diffs etc, extensive changelog etc) repository, a bugtracker and a huge forum which you can use (and certainly DO use) to get people's ideas to improve/fix chdk (and sdm of course). on the other hand, you do NOT provide diffs, instead you provide a tiny changelog and strange zip with the source (which we had to force you to do, remember?) once in a while. why don't we chdk devs come to the SDM yahoo forum and brag about CHDK and all the features SDM does not have? well, because it would be ridiculous, because after all, this is open source and we are NOT in competition. especially because up to now everybody thought SDM specialises in Stereo Photography. if you try to provide the better chdk - just outright say so, but dont come here advertising SDM when you dont give anything back (well, not on purpose i mean, because sometimes we also "steal" features from SDM, which is not easy, as you dont provide diffs or daily snapshots).
i dont really wanna start this whole discussion again, i just needed to vent some steam about this issue. and i don't care if am alone with this opinion (which i doubt btw). this is my opinion from chdk users point of, from forum users point of view and from CHDK developers point of view.
