SDM 1.75-had some problems at my first installation

before i started reading the getting started.
Quick Start
1. ps.fir   file listed in section "new sdm install on cards 4gb or less" is not found in the folder i had unzipped sdm.

It is not required, only DISKBOOT.BIN is used.

OK werner bloos explained me why that file was used.
but: i am currently fighting against strange sdm-problems on two 512mb-cards which are working fine for normal work and chdk. will report.
on one card not only unable to add sdm-after multiple formatting-steps also in win2k but also problems to find language, then stops and screen goes black.
will now go from scratch, starting with chdk on two 512 cards and two cameras. no cables available yet. a590IS/1.01B.

its not that simple. i am using win2k german and german version of SDM needed.

i am in contact with werner bloos who has the right files. yes i am in the sdm-yahoo-group but must wait until i executed his instructions. thats why i deleted the already started same thread.
i had strange behaviours when i tried to install sdm for a590is-1.01b from scratch on multiple sd-cards with the installer. on one card i could load in camera(i have two not connected/no cables yet). but it was blocked at language(i have german in camera) and then screen goes black. on a 512 i cold also load but later when i tried to reinstall no files at all were on the card. i tried cardreader(multiple cards) and usb-sd-card. multiple hdds-all win2k. when things are clear i will redo in winxp. maybe there is a w2k-problem in sdm. strange behaviour also when using the copy-method. i saw the folder but nothing happened. you see its not easy to give answers. i will find out more soon.
i am dreaming of my olympus 35 rc-rangefinder-pairs with one flash. it is working with film without problems.

since i had troubles or/and still do not understand the readme-instructions of werners files, i tried to use the installer with genuine 1.75.

win2k

1. it is only working with copy sdm to card.
i can hardly believe there is someone who could bring this to work on win2k. i tried on multiple drives, 2 cardreaders, cards from 32 mb to 4 gb s(class 2 to 6, 133x and newest sdhc, one was usb-sd.

next time i will try out on winxp where it should work. meawhile i hope to get detailed clear instructions here how to use the files in install-config and config-directories. for which setup. do we need a different one for vertical and horizontal.
when i tried out werners instructions i could see the menue upside down. but this worked only with copy-command(see above). install does not work, eighter errors or no data on card. drives are clean and defragged. strange but true. thanks

Since my suggestions were not clearly understood, probably because of linguistic considerations, allow me to be more direct.

This is a forum for CHDK, not SDM.

While there is some crossover, chances are much better that you will get assistance on the SDM forum than here.

You can, of course continue to post here, but your ever increasing "smite" value should give you some insight into the inappropriateness of doing so.

Please don't misunderstand me. I am not being elitist or protectionist of this forum. I am merely trying to make it easier for you to get the help you need.
