Switchable AF beam for constant light

couldn't the AF beam be kept on so that for example you can take videos in the dark? or use it as a sort of longer flash?
I'm thinking I could even do a color swap from that red to white.

the command is set_led, but I don't know how to make a script. couldn't this be included as a menu option somewhere? I mean I really think that for filming in the dark it's pretty cool especially when zoomed in.

Fingalo seems to have only made the led functions for the S3 IS. the AF beam doesn't come on with his set_led function on my cam.
and Microfunguy mentions that his AF led functions may not work on the A7xx
is there any hope that I will have this working on Fingalo's build?

Noticed something with Allbest's build (with a710):
set_led 9 0 disables af led: camera can't use af led when shoot(_half) is pressed. Menu option has no effect.
with set_led 9 1 led isn't lit, but enabled again

How to directly light the af led on a710 (other than shoot(_half))?

Don't worry, yet nobody was able to light this LED on A710 (and A700).
