Well, this ain't much to those with a telescope, or even a S5 (10x zoom), but I got these stars with nothing more than a tripod and a CHDK'd A630



That's Orion's sword, including a starting glimpse the Orion nebula

Spectacular! But how  did you do that, if I may ask? You shot at full telephoto I suppose -- so where are the star trails?!

As other people have already mentioned on the forums, you use alignment and stacking software. I used Registax; I am told Deep Sky Stacker (DSS) is more appropriate for this kind of image, but it doesn't run under Linux, which Registax (via Wine) does.
