After ~140 shoots (~800Mb) CHDK (and my ixus 970) does not start if the menu of the user is established in a mode "on dire". Deleting of a part of pictures (unlock card) temporarily restores camera work. Card Kingston SDHC 4Gb class 4.

I am experiencing same thing..   using a kingston 2gb class 6 MicroSd (with adapter)
for me it happens around after 40-50 shoots.  firmwate 1.00b

My cam is also crashing if the card(8gb transcend SDHC) is not empty.

Any fix in the works yet?

Ok super noob here.  Please point me in the right direction if this is not it.

I have SD890 with firmware 1.00f.

It appears to be another version.  I tried dumping the firmware with cardtricks using the newdryos and dryos options and I could not get either to provide anything but an empty file.  Is there another option or what has worked for other sd890 dumps?  TIA

Another post also has same firmware

I do not know how to program but am willing to do anything to help.

@ abs56 : you could try different versions of cardtricks, some have proven not to work for me when i dumped the 1.00c firmware.

@abs: Make sure the card you use is not too big. And I used newdryos for my firmware dump. It took me a couple of tries before I got it right. Make sure you wait long enough. First I thought nothing was happening, and all leds were out, but it worked eventually.

Sorry for the delay I was out of town for a bit.

@snc:  Thanks that worked! Cardtricks 1.39 seemed to have worked.

the dump itself seems to be alright. the firmware holds the strings "Canon IXY DIGITAL 500" and "Oct 28 2008 13:41:31". that sure is a bit strange, cause it seems like the ixus 970 is named ixy 820 in japan. anyone want to check that out?

Most (maybe all) dumps contain such strings of "relicts", e.g. Canon PowerShot G4, Canon PowerShot S20, Canon PowerShot A50, Canon PowerShot Pro70, Canon PowerShot A5 Zoom on the SD870...

why is it then that all the other 970 dumps contain at least one "proper" version string, just this one does not? strange. anyway, i fed the firmware to IDA, it seems okay so far.
abs56: maybe ill have something for you to test soon
