You have to write a script that recognizes the pulse length and does the "different things".

Craig - apart from the obvious - clicking the shutter, it's possible to zoom in or out or switch between still and movie modes (if you are running SDM rather than CHDK). Take a look at the scripts I wrote for the GentLED CHDK 2 which also sends different length power pulses - http://www.zenoshrdlu.com/kapstuff/zchdk2.html
