Shooting in DNG format

I am shooting my images using DNG format.

1. When shooting in DNG, 2 files are save in SD, CRW_nnnn.DNG and IMG_nnnn.JPG, right?
2. IMG_nnnn.JPG is very small, am I right to assume that the JPG is only produce to get the EXIF data?
3. During image preview(play), ONLY the JPG files are displayed? Because I noticed that the preview
is pixelated.

No, the jpeg is the regular jpeg, using whatever resolution/quality you have selected in the canon menu.

Playback only shows you the jpeg, the canon firmware doesn't know anything about the DNG. The DNG contains it's own metadata, so the jpeg isn't needed for EXIF.
Don't forget what the H stands for.
