still cant get this stuff to work, cant find the firmware version have downloaded all of the chdk's for this camera. it ask's me if i want to upgrade the firmware, i say yes and thats it???

Yes, when you're using the CHDK version for your camera's firmware...otherwise the camera will crash (remove the batteries for "recovery" then).

With the right CHDK version you'll see the CHDK splash screen for some seconds.
Pressing the SHORTCUT/PRINT button enters <Alt> mode, MENU calls the CHDK menu, SHORTCUT/PRINT leaves the <Alt> mode again...
