use of scripts in review mode

Does anyone know if scripts can be used in review mode?  I want to reduce the number of buttons that need to be pushed to change the number of prints from 1 to 5.  Alternatively, and perhaps more simply, has anyone any idea how the default number of prints can be changed from one to five when pushing the pictbridge button?

Yes, you can run scripts in play mode. You should avoid some commands that are obviously not meant to work outside REC mode (involving such things as shooting, zooming, setting focus etc), because some of them might not check that you're not in REC mode and could thus be potentially harmful if the lens is not out.

I've never seen pictbridge in action, but I guess you'll just need to simulate button presses which will work just fine as long as you remember to sleep long enough between each button press to let the camera work its magic in the menus.

Thanks fudgie.   :)  Ultimately I'd like to press one button to print 5 copies of a photo...presumably that button would be the pictbridge print button... the same button pressed to print a single photo directly from a powershot to a pictbridge enabled printer.  Might this be possible?  Provide me with a solution and I'll provide you with a luxury 2500 square foot waterfront luxury home to stay in for 2 weeks, direct waterfront in Key West.  Sleeps 8. Free.  All you pay is airfare.  I'm not kidding.  I'm on a mission.  Bruce

Well, user configurable shortcut keys is something that has been on CHDK todo list for ages, but has yet to be done. But if you can live with two (ALT key to enter ATL mode and then a full shutter press to start a script...remember to put exit_alt in the end of the script to get rid of that third button press to exit ALT mode) you can write the script emulating the required button presses and a shutter press in ALT mode will print out 5 copies if you're in PLAY mode.

If you for some reason can't learn how to write scripts, you should try to find someone who has the same camera model as you do to do it for you because those button presses and delays are quite likely a bit different for each model and it's easiest to test it if you have the camera there.
