I'm having a hard time finding a converter that would produce better results compared to in-camera conversion (a570is). I've noticed that other CHDK users struggle with white balance and excessive noise too.
So far at lowest ISO settings
dpMagic works the best for me. The colors come out better than in camera's jpgs. However it can't handle any noise and on anything above ISO 100 noise is amplified and the images are useless.
ACR in
Photoshop is second best. It's hard to achieve nice colors and correct white balance. But the noise is handled a bit better.
In both cases I convert to DNG first.
