i have to ask probably the stupidest question here:
how do i save a lua script ?

i have tried many times to:
copy a script, open notepad and paste, then "save as" .lua file

however, every time i right click to check it, it is still in txt format (e.g.: filename.lua.txt)
i have chosen "all files" and unicode to save. what went wrong?

Just rename it.  You might want to also download a real programming editor - google Notepad++

Dont get me wrong, but if something is stupid, that's definitely not Windows...
I have Windows set up to hide known extensions.
Just opened notepad, File->Save As, selected "All files" in the dropdown list, selected "ANSI" (Unicode will not work in CHDK), than in the filename field typed "test.lua" without quotes and pressed Save.
And got my test.lua file. What am I doing wrong?

After you made copy/paste in Notepad and Save as, before click to save with file name given, just delete the extension (.txt) and type (.lua)
That's all.Work on my WinXP Pro SP3.
