I noticed that the custom grid lines aren't aligned properly when displayed. They are positioned to the left of center.
I also had a go with fudgey's FastMD script. it works without problems here.

Heh, yeah, the ready grid files assume a 360x240 screen, but since the SX1 has 480x240, the grids show as "too narrow", not covering the whole screen width :). There seems to be no limit in the grid code for the coordinates, though, so if you make/modify grid files that use 480 as max x coordinate, it should be fine and full screen then.

It might be a good idea to add an option to shift/scale the grid coordinates, either in the menus, or by a command in the grid file (or both, heh).

Just tried it out, and it works indeed. Thanks for the hint.

I don't know if it is only in my camera and it is rather minor bug. When CHDK is loaded (version from this post: http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,3410.msg32335.html#msg32335) camera is switching off when shooting in "continuous shooting AF". After first shoot all LEDs and LCD switch off, lens is not retracting. After this pressing ON/OFF starts camera without problems. CHDK was only loaded into memory, none of its features was activated.

Not only on your SX1. Tried it and mine also switches off.

Darn, so this might be another serious issue of the SX1 port: continuous shooting with AF crashing!

zebra update: my modified zebra code now seems to work perfectly. I got rid of the initial garbage by adding a loop to the zebra init function that clears the buffer (i.e. sets all pixels to transparent) :)

Hmm, I wonder if I could joint the CHDK developers, so my changes would benefit all... :)

You can post patches and builds here.

Generally SVN commit access isn't given out until the devs have had a chance to get to know you through your contributions.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

I guessed as much. Very reasonable, of course. Okay, I'll see if I can post my modified files based and tested on the latest trunk at some point. At the moment I have done the modifications based still on the original SX1 alpha port, trunk 729.

Good morning (Sunday)!

As you may have seen: Our SX1 "Beta" Code is officially part of the AutoBuild as well comes down correctly - if using CHDK-Shell!

As I did for the initial "Source" --> Use CHDK-SHell (--> Source Tools) to create a Diff between existing Build and your additions!

1) Copy existing 744 Trunk to a let's say 745 Folder (<-- 2x the same for now)
2) Edit/add your changes to the code in 745
3) startup CHDK-Shell and use the DIFF (out of Source Tools)
4) Post the "patch.txt" and if you have new files to a ZIP and post with clear comments here
5) --> Due to the mods in "general CHDK code" a broader testing on different Cam Models is recommended

This thread is - at it seems - under permanent monitoring by the Moderators/Hero Members ;-) And they will integrate it within 1-2 days to the official trunk.

Cheers and hope to provide today also more "fixes" (later)

F.

BTW: I urgently recommend to use now the latest Trunk, because there are some Changes done in CHDK itself (--> Long Exposures works are choosable also in "Ev Factor" Mode)

Hey there!

Yes, the Cam will crash. not only with Cont-AF but also on other "settings"....

Can you try this for now: Choose another "Mode" (Tv, Av, M or also Sports or one of the Scene Modes) and retry?

I experienced, that if extremely overriding a value (let's say ISO 8000 (!)) then it will work best in a "corresponding" Default Mode (--> ISO3200 Mode or "night mode" was working too). Extreme usage of Shutter (1/100k) + Aperture (F33) will crash the Cam very likely in P- and Auto Mode, but was ok on "M" Mode.

The P or Auto Mode is the one whitch is the "less" override friendly one....the M (manual) Mode is - in my experience - the "best-working" mode for CHDK Overrides... and finally: CHDK is a "Manual Photography" enhancer... :-)

Let us know about the test cycle with the different modes later, ok?

(P.S. There are also some override combination, that let my old S2 IS crash too...mainly if choosing two or more extreme values. I think the reason is within the internal processing routines: As you know, CHDK just overrides values on PropCases/Variables of the CAM, but is not adding the whole "Picture Processing" Code...Pictures are still processed WITHIN the Cam's original Firmware after they have been shot. I think that on extreme "picture data" the compressing/cleansing procedures are getting into an "error condition" and crash (--> not a CHDK issue, but internal FW so may vary on different CAM types).
