Hello,

Do you think I could use your FW add on - on my SX1 with FW 2.01a?
It's unlikely, but you can try the 200h version. The worst it is likely to do is crash your camera, forcing you to remove the battery. Of course, there's no guarantee http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ#Q._Can_CHDK_damage_your_camera_.3F

If it doesn't work, you can try to get a firmware dump. http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Porting_the_CHDK

A fw dump for the SX1 2.01A is already available... CHDK wikia: SX1 fw dumps

I've just started using CHDK on the SX1; and got a quick Q about the badpixel-script; namely if it is working for other SX1's (I've got 94,576 bad pixels which I consider a bit on the high side; my Nikon's (be it a true DSRL) got immensely less than that).

I'd also like to cheer you developers on; CHDK is the only reason I got the SX1 instead of another brand! Canon is sitting on a goldmine here thanks to your work! Did I have a real computer I'd gladly help out, but I don't so I can't :(

See here for a description of the badpixel stuff http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,3836.0.html

Note that SX1 is the only CHDK camera with a CMOS sensor, so there is a chance it would be different somehow.

That was sort of what I meant; close to a hundred thousand in my book would mean something is up - with the camera or with CHDK/SX1. If it's the latter, maybe something for CHDK-devs to look into since I gather this list is used when CHDK processes raw (dng), right? If it isn't correct, it ought to mean that whatever pics you take with a faulty list, the pics themselves aren't at their best either.

I'd mark it down as a possible bug - unless other users have way lower numbers on their SX1s.

EDIT: I started a new thread, don't want to clutter this thread more than the possible bug-report have done. http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,3887.new.html

i can report 1/3rd of your count for badpixels at 36,165

hopr for more to report so we can get an avarage count for the CMOS type sensors

hi guys,

can anybody help us poor users of the 2.01a firmware out?? :-)

Since I'm dying without bulb mode, can somebody point me in the right direction? What is to be done, to get the chdk to work on our 2.01a (2.0.1.0) SX1 firmware? I've made a 2.01a firmware dump earlier (available in the fw dump download page), but don't know how to get further.

What's next??

Since I can do a lot of things - except program in assembler or c - can anybody do "the magic"? I can try to help out the best I can, but I feel, I'm not ready for porting it on my own.

I **think** one of the major changes between firmware 2.00h and 2.01a is the "feature" of NOT accepting any locked SD or SDHC Card.

In change to the older firmwares the camera WON'T BOOT, if

a.) NO card is inserted (not in playback and not in shooting mode)

b.) a LOCKED card is inserted (not with CHDK and even not without CHDK)

If this has happened, the SX1 just locks up an is doing really nothing - until you remove the batteries for some seconds. In this state it is not enough, to insert a unlocked card, or reopen and reclose the sdhc compartment. YOU HAVE TO REMOVE BATTERIES and insert a unlocked card, to make it function again.

This happens even with an empty card, which is freshly formatted and has nothing to do with CHDK.

Can somebody please try to compile the 2.00h version of the firmware in such kind, that it even boots on unlocked cards? (simply remove the check of the card lock)?

I know this is sub-optimal, because it is not possible to decide wether to start the chdk or not (with the lock switch of the card), but if it works, we could use "a dedicated CHDK card" (that always boots CHDK) until the problem is solved.

Just to try it out for testing purposes.

And you can bet that I'm badly willing to test it.

as fe50 already said, my 2.01a firmware-dump is to be found here ---> http://tommy.oseven.de/files/Canon_SX1-0201a.bin

or here ---> http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Sx1#Firmware_dumps

Thank you all

thumbs up

Hi people.

Does anyone know why the DNG files produced by CHDK on the SX1 are not recognized by
Adobe Camera Raw plug-in for Photoshop (CS4)?
ACR doesn't have any problems with the DNG files produced by CHDK on my canon powershot
A720.
I've started a thread about this issue on the Raw section of the forum, but perhaps it's more appropriate
here, since it turns out that with some fiddling in the header of the DNG, the file is properly recognized
by ACR (so it might be something simple that is preventing the files from being recognized properly):
