AWESOME!!!  A ginormous humungeous THANK YOU to reyalp for spending the time do this!

I've tried the diskboot.bin from your test-3 zip.  I didn't do anything with the patch file since I don't know how to handle that.  But I'm estatic to report, CHDK booting up on my camera.

The camera loads into play mode.  The green LED in front of the camera flashes twice then the red LED in the back of the camera flashes three times.  Then the CHDK logo pops up and it's in play mode.  All the play mode functions seem to work as normally expected.  It goes into ALT mode just fine and I can see all the configuration items.

Couldn't get it into Shoot mode in the normal fashion.  But interestingly enough, pressing the dedicated video record button pops it into shoot mode.  Once in shoot mode though, all the normal functions seem to be working just fine.  The direct-print button brings it into ALT mode.  I can go through the various settings and parameters but the script doesn't seem to work.  This is the first time I'm using this so it's probably just my ignorance.  I'll test it out some more this weekend and will report back.

Glad to hear it boots. I'll check this in as a beta build soon.

Half pressing the shoot button, or holding down the power button for a little while when you turn the camera on may start you directly in shoot mode.

http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/UBASIC describes how to use scripts. You can try running the llibtest.lua (see http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/LUA#Lua_library_test ) script found in CHDK/SCRIPT/TEST

Don't forget what the H stands for.

Tried it on my camera this morning; works like a charm.  llibtst.lua ran just fine.  I went through all the features (except for RAW parameters) this morning and didn't seem to have any issues.  Thank you for your hard work.

Hi,
I'm wondering if I'm missing something.! I have CHDK SX1  2.10A beta firmware ..plus the test 3 zip bin file on my SD card. The 'manual update firmware' as before does not  work (camera locks up if tried)..but can be restarted as 'normal' after opening the battery compartment and restarting  etc.
Is the any other way  I can get the CHDK  firmware to operate on the camera. I thought after reading a couple of recent posts that it was now possible somehow. I mostly want the firmware  for longer exposures.
I'm still hopeful someone can help
Regards,
Clivek   ??? :-[

The manual update loading mechanism ("firmware update") don't work on the SX1.
If you're working with Windows, just follow this guide: Installing with Cardtricks.
Note: This works only with SD cards up to 4 GB capacity !

Hi everyone,

First of all (this is my first post here), I would like to say a BIG thank you for the great work CHDK delivers. I am so excited with it, but still a long way to go to test all features.
Todat I installed the 795 release for the SX1. Since I am still discovering all features, today I started shooting pictures in Sports-mode. But, although happy so far, when I keep the shoot-button pressed to shoot more than one picture, the camera just shuts off.... Now I do not know whether this happened in earlier versions as well, but off course this is quite frustrating. Do you guys have the same problem here?

I hope someone can fix this little issue... If I were a little more intelligent I would love to help fixing this, but I am not a programmer and would not know what to do at all...

Cheers to you all and hopefully this issue can indeed be fixed... or maybe there is a workaround?

King Otto

Do you have any CHDK features like bracketing or raw enabled when this happens ?

Does your SX1 have 200h or 201a ?

Hi Reyalp,

An honour to be answered by you I understand.
As to your questions: no, no bracketing or raw enabled (also not in Canon menu). And I do have the 200h firmware.
Hope this helps,

Cheers

@KingOtto: This "bug" is an "old" one, and existed since....(see in this thread round page 16?)...

When continouosly shooting, some internal stuff (using the CHDK "Patch") is not "reset" correctly (in my CHDK SX1 Port), as when the code is running the first time through it (pressing the shutter button through) OR with original code.....this has to do that my SX1 (2.00h) CHDK code was modified based on the already ported SX10 CHDK Code. The SX10 is a CCD Cam and the SX1 a CMOS....and there are small differences that are NOT on the SX10 (--> additional calls to subroutines on the SX1, I tried to follow but couldn't yet decipher their further meaning. So just "copied" 1:1 the original code lines, which seem to be working fine at least at first shoot)

@all: I still intend to recheck the SX1 (2.00h) CHDK code later and find perhaps the modifications needed. But hence: My Cam + CHDK are "hobby" and different than in the beginning (March/April 09, bad weather season here in Switzerland) I'm quite busy right now (work, golfing, rc modelling & taking pictures with "beta CHDK" while weather is good).

Greetings to all
