I've got a MAC, and I've been using the install script provided to install CHDK.

However, once i get it loaded onto the card and put the card in my camera, it says MEMORY CARD FULL!

I've tried reinstalling with the Mac script 4 times now and it still says the card is full:(  I've got a 4GB.  What can I do??

Someone PLEASE help me:/

Hello & welcome, JCMoneyUSN !

Someone PLEASE help me:/

1) Backup your images from the card
2) Format your card IN THE CAMERA
3) Download the correct COMPLETE package for your camera from the CHDK Autobuild server
4) Expand ALL FILES & FOLDERS from this zip file to the root folder of your card
5) Start your camera in playback mode (!) with the PLAY [>] button, press MENU, go down & select the "Firmware Update" menu item

Now CHDK should start, you'll see the blue PRINT LED & the CHDK boot logo...now press PRINT, then MENU to enter the CHDK menu...

On a MAC you'll get in trouble with the archive utility, maybe it indicates the files as downloaded from the internet...
In this case read the following: CHDK wikia: MAC FAQ - Still having trouble...

I'm having the same problem with my mac and Powershot SD1100IS, and I just tried that last set of directions but it didn't work. I don't get the Firmware Update menu. Is there a difference between "expand all files and folders from this zip file to the root folder of your card" and letting my computer expand the zip file on its own and then copying that folder over to the root folder of my card? I did the latter and it didn't work, but maybe I misunderstood the directions.

(I've been looking at the Mac FAQ and stuff, no luck. I started another thread on this yesterday, but this one seemed relevant.)

I use the chdk on my SX230 and SD1100 cameras, and I installed them using a Macbook, currently running 10.6.8.

Is the file PS.FI2 named & placed correctly in the root folder ?
Since the Mac system archive utility could make trouble, have you tried another expand tool like described in the Mac FAQ ?
"Files decompressed from Archive Utility, the embedded system utility, have an "@" at the end of the permissions string when viewed in Terminal via the command "ls -la"."

Could you try to format the card in the camera & copy the PS.FI2 to the card on another machine, e.g. a PC running Windows ?

I tried the manual install described in the Mac FAQ and it seems to have worked. I haven't tried using teh CHDK very much yet, but the card doesn't claim to be full anymore and the one thing I tried (exposure bracketing) did work.

But, I don't remember making a PS.F12 file when I did that... I just followed the instructions in the FAQ. Maybe it was already in the CHDK folder and I just didn't explicitly deal with it.

@CanonBlue

if you got your CHDK from the Autobuild server http://mighty-hoernsche.de/
it should contain PS.FI2 --- and it should be in the ROOT of the card, i.e.
same place as DISKBOOT.BIN.

I did get my autobuild from there, and it looks like there is a PS.F12 file inside the unzipped folder on my COMPUTER. However, the directions (on the mac FAQ) never said to do anything with that file so it isn't on my card. I only moved the diskboot.bin file and the CHDK folder. Should I move the PS.F12 file to the root of my card also?

And now I notice my card is behaving strangely-- the first time I put it in to my card reader it showed no contents and when I tried to eject it it claimed it was in use. I ejected it anyway and put it back in and now the photos and CHDK stuff show up. But I double-clicked on the CHDK folder and it showed some contents for a second and then they disappeared! This is very odd behavior, any idea what it might mean?

(It might mean I had too many layers of USB connectors for it to go through. Since the card reader is fat it blocks other ports, so I had it on a USB extension cord. I unplugged other USB stuff and plugged it in directly and it seems to be working better. Does that make sense as an explanation?)

EDIT: I just moved the PS.F12 file over to the root of my card, but I'm not sure if it affected anything. My camera still seems to be working the same as it was before. Meaning, the CHDK comes up in locked mode, and the only function I've tried works, but I still can't figure out how to make it not autoboot. I think it is working overall, and I just have to learn how to use it.

@CanonBlue:
The file is PS.FI2, not PS.F12 (char i, not number one) ;)

The PS.FI2 file is the one needed for manual loading of CHDK; without this file placed in the card's root, the "Firmware Update" menu item is NOT visible !

Yes, sometimes (rarely) something like that happens, also on Windows machines...

- With the PS.FI2 file now you should be able to use the manual loading method
- to prevent autoboot just UNLOCK the card: lock ON = autoboot, lock OFF = no CHDK

...the Mac related wikia articles should be updated (no Mac here)...

I'm sorry, I guess I'm being stupid. People keep mentioning the manual loading method, but I just can't figure out how to make it work. That is the mode I'd really like to use, how do I do it?
