osd question on s5

so since yesterday i'm running chdk on my s5.
i edited the osd so that it shows the least information from the usual interface, but lots of the chdk-osd(like a custom grid).
but when i pop up the flash(and when i close it), suddenly the whole canon interface comes back up(grid and so on) and it's overlaying the chdk display.
why does it do that? i have to press the display button several times to get back to my custom look.
i hope you understand my question, unfortunately i can't take a picture of it.
if you need additional information, ask and i'll tell you!
thanks in advance!

ps:all my raw-shots are exactly the same size(11MB), why?
UPDATE: the canon-osd stays only a few seconds.

because they're RAW's  :D

RAWs contain only pure sensor data: sensor stays the same, so size stays the same as well.

LOL! makes sense, didnt think of that^^
thx

why is the image size of thcrw file half of the jpeg size?
in faststone viewer, the crw has 16xx*12xx but the jpeg of the image has 32xx*24xx
is that alright or did i set a wrong setting?

Faststone viewer cannot make an image bigger than that. If you want to use the full size raw, you must convert it with a third party software.
So yes, it is allright :)

open faststone settings, go to the raw tab, set "view raw files in" from embedded preview image or half size to "actual size (slow)".
and you bet, it IS slow.

already did so. i just don't know how to handle the wb in faststone, and that it shows a reduced resolution is strange. i'll have a look at rawtherapee!

so i have been playing around with therapee, but i dont get any good result.
i put all settings on auto/default, but the jpeg it creates has less color and isnt as sharp as the jpeg from the cam.
shouldn't it create the same picture if i don't change wb/saturation/color stuff?
