Have a530 , and I am willing to try chdk,but my camera seems to have 1.0.0 firmware.
I read this from exif ,becose dont have card reader yet (didnt have needs for it so far).
Is this correct,or must be find out on the way witch is described on the chdk site?
Is there big difference between firmwares?Will chdk work anyway?
Help please!!!!

There is no 1.0.0 firmware... Usually it is because the ver.req file was not named correctly (many people type "ver.reG instead of ver.reQ for Version Request)...

You followed the instructions here?:

FAQ - CHDK Wiki

And, usually there is only one version for the A530... v1.00a (at least for AllBest)-- so go ahead and try it. There is no problem if it does not work... Just take out the batteries for a few moments and erase the *.BIN and *.PS files.

AFAIK there's only 1 version of the firmware (CHDK supports 1.00A)
Just try that one, it should work, here:

I will ,tomorow will buy card reader ,hope it will work.
I have speare 16mb card ,will this be ok for experiment?

It should work, although it may be slow for writing RAW files, and video tests are off the table!  :haha

I thought I was the king of old SD cards with my 64Mb but you beat me now.

I got it with the camera,have 2gb ,this one was newer used.
Like I sead, just for experiment  :),will use bigger later if works

Canon packed a lousy 32MB SD card with my late-2007 S5IS... Useful for debugging anyway :P

But, now is some other problems:
RAW image is saved on .CRW ,wav,THM,jpg(!)or CR2 format !
Witch program can open and edit this?I tried with acdsee 9 (file assosiations are checked) and wont read it.
Note: couldnt use 16mb card becose there is no "lock" slider"

If raw is not readable ,all is for nothing!Raw is what i need!
Some help?

Please, PLEASE use the search or wiki. This is one of the most frequent newbie questions.
You need to convert the CRW first. There are several Tools to do that, DNG for PowerShot-2 being one.

Sorry!
Had just enough time to install CHDK and this seems to be fastest way to get info.
Everything is ok now.This is totaly unknown teritory for me,so will post if there is some problems.
