greetings and salutations.... i am interested in this hack for the canon camera and i am looking for a good camera to start of with. i am sure that not every function will be enabled on every camera.... i was wondering what camera will give me a wide array of functions when i use this mod? i saw some info about this hack on the life hacker site sometime ago, and now i got some cash to spend i would like to give this a try. i am a fairly competent photographer and would like to have a camera like this to experiment with.....

oh yeah i am looking for a pns. something i can take just about anywhere...

CHDK supports most of the main features on most cameras. The main exceptions are
- features that require hardware only available on certain cameras. The big one is that the ixus and most of the other cheap/compact cameras do not have an adjustable aperture.
- a few features require extra code, e.g. > 64 second exposures, DNG support.

What I would do is make a short list that are currently available, within your budget and size requirements, and then check the CHDK wiki pages for each camera, or ask here.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Hello everyone,   :)  Even I am a newbie to CHDK. I am from India, and an amateur photographer. I came across this hack when I was planning to buy a new camera. I plan to buy a P&S that can support these hacks. Unfortunately, in India, only the newer models are available. Those whose hacks are not yet listed on this site. I dont have much idea about the hardware of these cameras. So, please suggest me which of these camera would be a good investment. I already have a prosumer camera (Sony H50), so I do not plan to buy anything having those high end features. I just want something that can be hacked to the max (one, whose hardware would support a hack when it is available). The powershot range of cameras available are :

PowerShot G10
PowerShot SX1 IS
PowerShot SX200 IS
PowerShot A480
PowerShot A1100 IS
PowerShot D10
PowerShot SX120 IS
PowerShot SX20 IS
PowerShot G11
PowerShot S90
PowerShot A495
PowerShot A3000 IS
PowerShot A3100 IS
PowerShot SX210 IS
