I've made lots of progress on the 5D Mark 2 firmware (version 1.0.7) and am able to create my own DryOS tasks on the camera.  So far I have one that will disable the audio AGC and another that updates the version string.  I'm taking a different approach from CHDK and not including any Canon instructions in my modified firmware; instead it makes a RAM copy of the ROM image and selectively updates instructions to return control flow to the modified boot-strap routine.  My next steps are to add some menu items for the AGC and video mode options, and then to try to determine how to draw to the vram for audio-level meters.

this is great progress i guess :) whats audio AGC?

Automatic Gain Control: amplification is auto-adjusted to existing sound presure level (usually with delay to keep it from 'pumping' )
