I know some of you guys are working on the Canon 5DMK2. I figured I'd post up about another worthy Video SLR cause to fix up.
The Panasonic Lumix GH1's only big limitation is the codec (AVCHD) not being implemented properly, and recording at a fairly low bitrate of 17mbps. The camera has two CPU's (one for shooting video and the other for stills) to my knowledge. at $1500 with kit lens it also comes in as cheaper than the 5DMK2. Would it be possible to make a custom firmware, one that lets you use both in conjunction to allow you to output a higher framerate? one other thing that people want is to turn off the automatic audio gain, and have some sort of output sound. additionally, the chip is supposedly cooled somehow, to keep it from overheating. it has an HDMI out, but it's not a live video feed, and turns off while recording.
anyway, I suppose it's not my place to say, but it sounded easier to me than what people are trying to accomplish with the 5DMK2.
EDIT: oh, and if any Mods/Admins see this and it qualifies to go into the CHDK DSLR forum, feel free to move it at your discretion.
