So, any new progress? Is this going to happen, or should I just forget about it?

Can anyone send me a development package for the G10? I just got the G10 and I would like to start working on the porting.
I dont have the time to scramble around for everything and I was thinking that someone could put everything together (de/compiling sw (windows), the 1.03b firmware dump (if anyone has a working link) and the chdk base that is supposed to be ported to the firmware. If anyone has already started to port - please forward ur work, so we can get this thing over and done with.

Thnx guys - and keep up the work.  :)

Let me list the most essential things that need to be done to the firmware to enhance this great camera:

implement chdk (duh) OR BETTER: Enhance native OS to support the following:

-Video Mode:
manual mode: shutter speed/aperture/iso/EV control/optical zoom/highest possible resolution
half automatic mode: auto adjust speed/aperture when aperture/speed has been manually set

-Picture Mode:

Shutter: Bulb/30s-1/16.000
Aperture: 2.8-8, possible 11/16/22?
ISO: lowest possible value (50?-3200)
Flash: in always on-mode range from -10 to full power, option for non-automatic-compensation and NO PREFLASH [for external slave control]

Thats it for me right now... anyone else got some input?

Getting the development environment setup is a tiny fraction of the amount of work required to complete a port. If you don't have time to do that, you definitely don't have time to make a port.

You can get a firmware dump from your own camera using the canon basic dumper, see http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Canon_Basic/Scripts/Dumper

For all your development needs, you should start here http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/For_Developers

Guide to making a new port: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Adding_support_for_a_new_camera

You can find pre-configured toolchains here: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Compiling_CHDK_under_Windows CHDKShell comes with everything you need.

For decompiling, you either need
- the full version of IDA (not cheap), setup described here: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Loading_dump_to_IDA
- or GPL tools described here: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/GPL_Tools

Don't forget what the H stands for.
