Hi,

Having had a recent scare with the host, because of a cpu overload caused by our board, I have to apply some maintenance operations in order to secure the normal usage (and existance) of the CHDK forum.

Regarding ZERO POST users: to this date these build up to more than 5000 of our 8000+ users, and so I ask the community if they should be eliminated, in order to reduce the database size and increase performace.

My opinion is that these records should be deleted, as the board has guest view access, and if someone wants to be a member then they should participate.

The poll will run for 7 days.

Thank you for reading

Hej,
Can you download the attached files without being logged in ? For example scripts and such ? Would be the only reason imo allowing 0-post users.

you can also write a mass-mail to all of those 0 post users, informing them that their account is about to be deleted.

Guests can download attachments (for now; I'll have to monitor external traffic for excessive usage).

As for a mass-mail, I was thinking of that but I don't actually think it's worth it, as I'll be checking for the last login date before deletion (and maintain whomever had logged in the last 90 days or so).

Hej,
Okej, I vote yes then. Maybe the most popular files should be hosted at another place and have just a link in the posts.

95% of the time I do not log in.
If the database is too big and consuming space and CPU, delete.
A person can re-register if posting is important.
