SX10is Firmware - Fooled by Canon!!

Hello All! Cheers from Portugal!!
I read about this alternative firmware, and since I was on the market for a cam with RAW capabilities, my eyes shined with this new oportunity.
I've seen there are two CHDK versions for the sx10's firmwares - 1.0A and 2.0B, but I think I read there is also a version C, and for this one the CHDK does not work.
Is this true? Is it possible that if I buy a SX10 today I won't be able to get it running the CHDK?

This is correct. Only versions 1.01a and 1.02b are currently available.
Versions are 100c and 1.01b are not yet supported.

If you are buying your SX10 in a store, they might let you check beforehand which firmware version it has. See http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ#Q._How_can_I_get_the_original_firmware_version_number_of_my_camera.3F

Thanks man! Canon has just confirmed me that the FW version that equips the cams sold in Portugal is the 1.02B, so I guess that I'm in the clear and will be buying one and trying the CHDK asap!

By the way, isn't there any easyer way to check the FW version on the SX10?? And are there any plans to develop a CHDK version for the other FW versions?Thanks

Well, I did buy the SX10. According to Canon Portugal, all the SX10 had FW 1.02B, but this one has a FW 1.03A, so, needless to say that CHDK does not work. I'm really pissed of with the guys from Canon Pt

and am considering returning the cam.

Are there any plans in developing an CHDK for this fw?

Putting ver.req file to SD card is too complicated?
Well, shoot JPEG, then run on your PC:

Output is like :

This mean 1.01B firmware version.

In general, there aren't "plans" to support a particular camera. Ports happen when a sufficiently skilled and motivated developer has the camera. If that happens, it is discussed in the development forum, usually in a thread dedicated to that camera. Occasionally, people will do ports to different firmware revisions "blind" without access to the camera.

There was some discussion on the development thread that 103a is similar or identical to 102b http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,2468.msg35157.html#msg35157

You might try that build.

Actually I did try it. Did everything by the book (formated the sd card with Card Tricks and installed the FW also with Card Tricks), but nothing happened, literally, because the cam didn't even start, and to start again I had to remove the batteries and start it again, and after that it was ok. Tried this many times and the result was always the same. It is really disapointing. According to that post on that link, the 102B does not work on the 103A...
