Hi there, got a new a580 to play with today, but I can't dump the firmware :(

GM1.01B
No Error
Jan 24 2008 20:56:25
Adj Ver.011.001

Camera is brand new with Total Shoot = 0

Using the 32MB SD card, tries a couple times but I get no strings when look at
SD card after.  What to try next?  I see someone else reports having an a580
101b dump.

Edit: DryOS comes up as Card Locked! No Image; NewDryOS does nothing (as expected)...

101B has already been dumped using udumper/newdryos according to http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/A580

edit:
I'd suggest the most likely thing is that newdryos is working, but your empty.dum file does not cover the sectors written by udumper. Keep in mind that udumper doesn't know anything about the file system!

edit #2:
There is an a580 porting thread btw http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,2900.0.html

Don't forget what the H stands for.

Well if I cannot dump the firmware, it doesn't bode well for me working on the a580 port?  I should be able to duplicate others' work.

...later...

Increased empty.dum to 24MB, got it :)  Start 0xb9800:

0000000: 0100 00ea 6761 6f6e 6973 6f79 5011 9fe5  ....gaonisoyP...

'clean' reported 759808 (0xb9800) leading and 20971520 trailing zeroes removed.
