crop to 3:2 after shot

Hi there!

I'm looking for a script which will automatically crop my taken images to 3:2
My Ixus 85is is not able to take images directly in 3:2 !
(just in 4:3 and 19:9 -> how stupid is that?!?!)

Is it possible to write a script which...
- can crop the 4:3 images to 3:2 after shooting
- or by starting the script manually and crop all images in the folder
- or makes it possible to directly shoot in 3:2

Thanks!

No. You must crop on your PC, this cannot be done in-camera (except for RAW/DNG files it could, but it would be quite pointless to implement that).

The best thing you can do is use a CHDK grid that makes it easier for you to shoot photos that will be later cropped to 3:2.

in your favourite search engine. Lossless jpeg crop means that the image does not get decompressed-and-recompressed (lossily) as would be the case if you used a regular photo editing program. There are both free- and paid-software programs with this function, some have nice interfaces than others.

The advantage of cropping on your PC is that you can choose a slightly different composition to what you had planned with the camera.
