Can anyone tell me how I get the 'true' firmware version from my SX10. The cam reports 1.0.1.0 via 'set' and 'disp'.  many thanks.

http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ#Q._How_can_I_get_the_original_firmware_version_number_of_my_camera.3F

It has been reported that the SX10 doesn't report the version if both ver.req and vers.req are present: http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,3802.0.html so if you have both, delete one of them.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

The SX10 shows the advanced fw info page with ver.req, vers.req and also with both files, always.

@orkok:
The Canon firmware info ("1.0.1.0") is shown when there's no ver.req or vers.req file on the card's root folder,
so i guess you're running Windows & you've got the typical Windows issue...

Sure its vers.req and not vers.req.txt? Check in explorer in the menu "Tools" -> "Folder Options" -> "View" whether  "Hide extensions for known file types" is set.
