CHDK download - does it affect video frame rate?

Hi all,

Thanks for letting me come to your domain. Have been lurking for some time already. Although I don't know programming, I do hope that I can contribute sooner or later in one way or another, particularly if I can learn.

I haven't found any place in the forum for newbies to introduce yourself, and I probably will be pruned within 90 days because I have nothing better to post about.

I'm considering getting my hands on a A590 IS (someone's offering one cheap in my area), but I do know that I need a 30fps frame rate at 640x480 which the A590 doesn't have. On the same note, the CHDK download page says:

"Video Overrides - Control the quality or bitrate of video, or change it on the fly"

Is frame rate also included? I know there's a number of people out trying to get a PAL powershot, but what about this?

It does, but you have to decide if the change in 'quality' is worth the larger file size.

I was lucky, someone else wanted to sell a Powershot A1000 / E1 not long after that for a small difference in price. Yeah, I know there's no CHDK, but if there's 30 fps, fits my needs, then good. I highly doubt if CHDK's gonna try hacking it given the target audience, but then and again I don't need that at the moment.

Some work has been done on A1000, not finished http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,2654.0.html

CHDK ports don't depend on target audience. There is no CHDK organization the specifies which cameras get ported. The only thing that matters is a developer who has access to the camera and sufficient time, motivation and skill to complete the port.
