I am new to RAW files, but the beauty in RAW files for me is that no in-camera manipulations has been done. The in-camera de-noising and color manipulations are the main reasons for me to shoot RAW.

If you compare jpg with RAW and make an "colour matrix", an important point of shooting in RAW is lost.

Or am I missing the point?

ArtDen, are there any chances for DNG4PS2 with possibility to modify matrix ?
I don't need any graphical interface, it would be enough for me to have all matrices in one text file, for example in format

A610  n1 n2 n3 ... n9
A620  n1 n2 n3 ... n9
A630  n1 n2 n3 ... n9
etc ...

yes, it would be a great feature

thank you ArtDen for all your work

ArtDen,

Any chance of sending the matrices back to Dave Coffin so that they get integrated into dcraw?

lks, these are approximate matrices, not precise. I think they will be corrected many times in future. So I don't want Dave Coffin to include theirs into DCRaw.

ArtDen,

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

With the new DNGs I get much better skin color (once the white balance is done right).

Now I just need an easy way to combine denoising with demosaicing (a-la DXO 5) to really be able to print my ISO 800 shots.

Thanks,

Why not just use RawTherapee or some other raw converter?

I'm actually trying out Raw Therapee, seems quite good... I'm looking for a demosaicing algorithm that effectively reduces noise (or at least doesn't amplify it beyond film-grain like appearance).

I will next look at RAWHide (got a hint at the forum), we'll see.

At first I thought the same about Raw Therapee. After comparing it with other programs, I now think what you see is the raw picture, without ANY de-noising done. It conserves ALL details in this way. You can aply de-noising any time you want it afterwards.
