Can I assign a button to be next frame and/or previous frame?

Hello. New here. Not new to forums. Have read the Wiki and searched the forum.

I got a Canon SD800 specifically to use at the golf range for golf swing analysis.

I would love to be able to reassign the PRINT button to be NEXT FRAME. Right now when reviewing a video on screen, when I use the next frame option, the bottom of the screen remains filled up with icons. I would like to be able to NEXT FRAME through a portion of a video without the icons or the progress image showing. Just a clean screen. NEXT NEXT NEXT NEXT.

What I would really like to do would be to reassign the buttons in such a way that when I was in video review mode, that the shutter zoom button would select what the PRINT button does. Upon start up the PRINT button would be NEXT FRAME. If the ZOOM button is rotated left, the PRINT button would become PREVIOUS FRAME. And then if the ZOOM button is rotated right, the PRINT button would become PREVIOUS FRAME again.

Is any of this possible?

Is there a script that does something close to this that I can revise to be able to do what I have described?

Thanks!

Tim.

You can't directly re-assign what the canon firmware does with the buttons. You can write a script that produces a sequence of button presses.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Ok. So. I am in video preview mode. Looking at the screen. The video is stopped right were I want it.

Now I want to start a script that issues [function button][right (to slow mo)]][right (to first frame)][right (to previous frame)][right (to next frame)][function button (to engage the next frame)][menu (to clear the screen of all the video controls)] (This list of functions will advance the video one frame and then leave me back at the video preview with a clean screen.)

How do I do that? And how do I start the script? And can I assign that script to a button so I can issue it over and over?

Thanks for the help.

Q. How do I do that?
A. start by reading the script tutorial

Q. And how do I start the script?
A. Press the Alt button to go into Alt mode, then click the shutter to start the script

Q. And can I assign that script to a button so I can issue it over and over?
A. Just press the shutter button (which in Alt mode runs the current script)
