How to completely reset Canon Powershot Cameras?

Hey There:

I'm trying to reset my Powershot SD780 to give it away. However, the reset all setting seems to have the camera's menu settings reset but not the time, and it doesn't have the "brand new" boot screen that asks you for time. Is there any special key combination to reset the Powershot Camera to as new status? Thanks.

Ciac

I think all digital cameras have a small 'coin cell' that keeps the clock going when the main battery is removed. On the A570 this is easily removed (it's under the battery flap). Not sure where it is on an Sd780, or if it's easy to get at, but if you remove it and put it back the camera will boot asking for the time.

Hi ciaconne,
As the most (all ?) Ixus series cameras, the Ixus 100 / SD780 don't have a removeable backup battery.
There's an internal, not removable backup battery, charged from the battery pack;  it "holds" the settings for about 3-4 weeks after the battery pack has been removed.

The "Reset All..." feature on the SD780 do not reset the following setting:
  date/time,
  language setting,
  video system PAL/NTSC,
  time zone / DST setting,
the image registered as start-up image,
the saved data for custom white balance,
the colors that were selected in "Color Accent" or "Color Swap"
...and also data stored in ROM like the last errors list, the image counter...

You can change (reset) the self-registered images & sounds (like the start-up image) with the Canon software (ZoomBrowser EX / ImageBrowser), on many cameras you can also set / reset the "owner name".

Some parameters are saved on internal flash, just like the firmware, and so will not be reset by this method.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

btw we should make clear that we're not helping in any case of a scam going on, resetting image counter etc, to sell a used camera as new. i guess thats also the reason canon lets you reset the camera to the full extent.
