Get the user manual, that will help you find out what
some of the options are for (link see my signature)

have fun,

Thank you so much for those instructions, whim! Are those posted somewhere on the Wiki? I honestly spent several hours another day looking for simple instructions on how to set up a dual partitioned card to no avail. Those instructions you posted worked great and made sense. If they're not on the Wiki in an easy to find location, they should be.

It appears that the Swap Partitions feature is not working on the camera. It says that it does it successfully, but the partitions aren't swapped. Is this broken? Am I missing something? I don't think the in-camera Create card with two partitions feature works either.

Using the camera's USB connection to get photos off the locked card is a great idea! However, it doesn't show the RAW files. Is there any way to get those off too? I'm using DNG, if that matters.

Does anyone have any idea what's causing the incorrect ISO display? Is there something I can do to help fix that? Does anyone know what source file the problem resides in? I'm not sure that the camera is actually using the expanded ISO values, but I was waiting to test this out until the ISO display was correct. Thanks for all the work, everyone!

Hi,
sorry for my absense, I've been away (day job sometimes gets in the way of CHDK work  :(  ) but I plan on looking at the bug list including the ISO display soon.
On the other points you raise, you are not missing anything, these are bugs, these should be added to the bug list on the wiki page.

Thanks for finding them

Both of these options only manipulate the cards' bootsector, after using them you should shut down your cam.
AFAIK the code used is not camera-specific (except, of course, for it's dependance on the SD writing function)

In case of the swap function, after removing the write protect and restarting the cam, you should be able to manually start CHDK ('Firm Update' method) if you have PS.FI2 in the root of the large partition (and your battery has enough juice, my ixus870 refused to perform the 'Firm Update' @ 35% battery capacity ...)

Note that he 'create card ...' option only partitions, you will still need to format the 2 partitions ...

hope that helps to check if this feature is really broken for SX200is,

wim

@OldGit

It's the least I can do after my cooperation in spamming this thread
with another 2 pages of non-porting related stuff  :D

RaduP: Yeah, I saw that link, actually, but it seemed like a lot of trouble doing it that way and I read that installing that driver can cause some problems. I figured that I could just use Linux to do it, but I never got around to it. Whim's method is far far easier. It doesn't require installing anything, let alone a driver, or booting into Linux, etc.

I just tried the in-camera Create card with two partitions feature again with a freshly formatted (in-camera) 16GB SDHC card. It did nothing to the card. sdminste.exe still shows one partition and none of the files on the card were changed. Also, with my 8GB MicroSDHC dual partitioned card (which is working fine now; thanks again whim) the swap partition function does nothing regardless of whether I've booted it using either method. Perhaps someone else could try it and confirm the bug?

@whim,
Your input is always valued, I am just amazed at your patience in helping us all. :)

@Ezzelin,
I'll check the points you raised when I go through the bug list.
As I have been absent for a few weeks I have a lot to catch up on and check, but I will check it out.

Thanks again to both of you.
